Atlus News Persona 2 Persona 2 Remake Persona Remake PS5 Revelations Persona

Persona 1 & 2 Remakes Is ‘Something We Should Definitely Do,’ Says Series Producer Kazuhisa Wada

Kazuhisa Wada, series producer on the Persona franchise, has given the strongest hint yet that the first two entries in the long-running RPG series may get the remake treatment during a chat with GamerBraves.

“At this point, I can’t say for sure, but personally, I think it’s something we should definitely do. I think we have to do it,” said Wada-san, making it clear that Atlus may very well consider remaking Persona 1 and Persona 2 at some point.

Revelations: Persona was originally released in 1996 in the US and Japan, but didn’t see the light of day in Europe until the 2010 PSP version. The story revolves around a group of high school students that encounter a series of supernatural incidents, and soon discover the ability to summon Personas after playing a fortune-telling game. Revelations: Persona takes the form of an RPG that combines angled third-person and first-person views, while combat unfolds on a grid-based arena with four main commands — Attack, Contact, Analyze, and Form.

Meanwhile, Persona 2: Innocent Sin launched in 1999 for the PSOne, but remained exclusive to Japanese territories until the arrival of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 2 — Innocent Sin for the PSP in 2011. The game follows Seven Sisters High School student Tatsuya Suou and pals as they battle the nefarious Joker, who is spreading reality-warping rumours across the city. Personas are once again a main ingredient in the adventure, coming into play during Persona 2’s turn-based battles, while the Rumour system allows you to influence events in your favour.

Atlus has previously focussed its efforts remaking the latter entries in the series such as Persona 3 Reload and the upcoming Persona 4 Revival, so any remakes of the original two games would require a lot more work due to the fact they differ considerably from recent entries.
