S-Game’s upcoming Phantom Blade Zero will offer three different graphics modes on PS5, including Performance Mode (60 FPS), Balanced Mode (40 FPS) and Graphics Mode (30 FPS).
A Digital Foundry review of the game’s performance reveals that those on PS5 Pro will also have access to an extra toggle that promises ray tracing for shadows, reflections, and global illumination. Furthermore, Sony’s high-end console offers a sharper image overall, with PSSR likely being used for upscaling
Performance Mode is overall considered the best option for Phantom Blade Zero, with the review noting:
“On both PS5 and PS5 Pro, I’d recommend the performance mode as a first option. The game’s combat benefits significantly from the improved responsiveness, and you’re not missing out on any meaningful visual features.“
Phantom Blade Zero is out today for PS5, and you can read our full review here. S-Game confirmed this week that physical versions of Phantom Blade Zero will be released in 2027, and includes an Ultimate Edition featuring a collectible steel case.
The game is based on Wuxia, and is set in the Phanton World inspired by China’s Ming Dynasty, combining elements of wuxia, steampunk, cyberpunk, horror and more. The main character, Soul, is an elite assassin serving a mysterious organisation known as The Order, but is framed for its patriarch’s murder and subsequent hunted by its members. Soul sustains a fatal wound to his heart but is revived; however, he only has 66 days left to live, during which time he must restore his heart and unravel the conspiracy.
