Before we actually saw what a PS5 would look like, when the earliest images of PlayStation 5 development kits were going around, people thought it looked crazy.
It was massive, and if it was any indication of what the console would look like, it would be an odd looking console for sure. We did get an odd looking console, but it doesn’t resemble the devkit all too much. Another thing the PS5 DevKit doesn’t much resemble, is a pizza making kit.
But that’s essentially how it is being disguised on eBay so it can be sold for thousands. Merchants on eBay are selling PS5 DevKits by disguising them as “Sony PS5 PizzaStation Development Pizza Kit,” is how one listing has titled it.
The thin-crusted disguise is enough to avoid detection so the listing isn’t taken down. Devkits being publicly re-sold is not something console manufacturers are fans of, so simply advertising a PS5 DevKit is likely to get flagged quickly, with a call made to eBay to have the listing removed.
One listing spotted by Dexerto sold for €6,000, while another listing PSU found sold for $11,200 USD. If you have a spare “pizza heating system,” as it’s described in one listing, then it’s clear you can catch a high price for it.
