PlayStation Network (PSN) down, no maintenance scheduled

UPDATE – Majority of reports appear to be from the EU, with some US users reporting no access problems.

UPDATE (2) – After two hours of downtime, it appears users are slowly getting access back. We’re back up and running in the EU.

The PlayStation Network is currently offline, with no official word from Sony Computer Entertainment as to why users can’t get online. Reports of the PSN being down are flooding in via Twitter and the PSN down detector. Users have been unable to connect for the last hour (since 11am BST).

Users are reporting a variety of errors, including “Cannot connect to server NW-31201-7” or “CE-34861-2” on PS3 and PS4.

Gamers are also experiencing indefinite loading times with Sony’s PlayStation Store, as well as a prompt telling them that they do not have a subscription to PlayStation Plus, despite the contrary being true.

Some have attributed the downtime to preparation for PS4’s 2.0 firmware update, which is said to be ‘just around the corner’. It’s unclear what exactly much-anticipated update will contain, with much speculation as to its contents.

There is maintenance scheduled to take place on Monday, but it appears that this downtime is unscheduled.

We’ve contacted Sony for an update. Please check this article for updates throughout the day.
