PlayStation Reveals New Board Game, Collectibles And More To Celebrate PlayStation’s 30th Anniversary

PlayStation will be celebrating its 30th Anniversary this coming December 3, but ahead of the actual day, Sony is already kicking off parts of the festivities.

With Astro Bot arriving tomorrow at time of writing, a game that itself is already a huge celebration of all things PlayStation, Sony revealed in a new PlayStation Blog post a few of what’s to come, and some things that are available now.

Six original soundtracks will be released beginning in October through to January, which will be the soundtracks for God Of War, God Of War II, God Of War: Ghost Of Sparta, Unit 13, Warhawk, and Twisted Metal.

There will also be an entirely new and free trial version of Gran Turismo 7 called My First GT, meant to be as accessible as possible so that anyone can try out the long-running racing-sim series.

PlayStation also revealed some new products all under a new Shapes Of Play branding. There’s Shapes Of Play: Battle, Shapes Of Play: Create and Shapes Of Play: Recharge.

SoP: Battle is a new board game, which sounds pretty much like Connect Four, with PlayStation symbols. SoP: Create is a collection of magnetic shapes you connect together to form shapes, and SoP: Recharge are being pitched as “a new way to recharge between games, especially after that tough boss battle,” and basically they look like pillows. Or stress ball-adjacent products.

Whatever the case we’ll see more of all these Shapes Of Play products this coming December, closer to the actual anniversary.

There will also be free multiplayer trial weekends for EA Sports FC 24, Call Of Duty, and NBA2K25, and more PlayStation Tournaments coming.

You might notice that there’s no announcement of a special edition console, controller, or even face plates. A quick look at how PlayStation has handled its anniversary events in the past though will tell you that those announcements are probably just coming a bit later on.

It would be very, very surprising if the anniversary were to come and go without any new special edition hardware.
