Sony Interactive Entertainment has issued PlayStation owners a reminder of the fact they don’t own their digital games, which comes following the format holder’s announcement earlier this summer that it will be stopping production of physical game discs.
Interestingly, some users have stated that they received the email despite not firing up their PS4 or PS5 for an extended period. You can read a snippet below.

In an attempt to illustrate their dissatisfaction with Sony’s digital-only future, fan group DoesItPlay organised a boycott from August 23 – 30, which encourages fans to log off their consoles, avoid making any purchases, and cancel subscriptions to any of the company’s services.
Despite all the backlash, Sony’s chief financial officer said during an investor Q&A following the company’s latest earnings results recently that it’s still continuing with its plans, although it did acknowledge the “strong views” shared by its community.
