Jade Raymond‘s Haven studio which she opened earlier this year and announced as a PlayStation partner has just hired six new staff members all of which have been picked up from the struggling Google Stadia platform.
Sebastien Puel has joined as a Co-Founder of the studio and was General Manager of Google Stadia’s games. Corey May joins as Haven’s World/IP Director and was previously Stadia Games & Entertainment’s Head of Creative Services and Publishing. Jonathon Dankoff is Haven’s Insights Director and worked as a User Experience Researcher at Google Stadia.
Two Concept Artists from Stadia, Erwann Le Rouzic and Francis Denoncourt have also joined Raymond’s new studio as a Concept Artist and Senior Concept Artist respectively. Finally, Pierre-Marc Bérubé joins Haven as a Software Engineer, coming from a Graphics Programmer role at Google Stadia.
This isn’t entirely surprising as Raymond comes from Google Stadia herself and the company shut down its game development studios in February, so Raymond likely wants to keep a lot of the talent that was working on games nearby. Nevertheless, it is interesting to see just how many people have left Google Stadia in recent weeks, including the Head of Product. It makes you wonder how long the service has left.

Haven is busy working on a new IP for PlayStation, but it is still in very early development, so don’t expect to hear or see much about it for a few years at least.
