Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter reckons PlayStation VR can dominate the competition providing Sony can get the price point spot on.
Writing on Twitter in response to HTC Vive’s recent $800 price tag revelation, the ubiquitous analyst feels that Sony can still come out on top if it’s positioned at a sub-$500 cost.
Wow, Vive priced at $800. This sets Oculus up to win at $600, and sets Sony up to dominate if they have the ability to price sub $500

PlayStation VR is pencilled in for release in the first half of 2016, although a price point has yet to be confirmed as of yet. However, Sony has indicated it will be positioned at a similar cost to a new games console. Rumors of a fall 2016 release window originating from GameStop were quickly dismissed by Sony.
Sony will be competing with both HTC Vive and Oculus Rift in the upcoming virtual reality hardware battle. However, with Vive retailing for $800 and Rift set to drain your wallets of $600, there should be plenty of legroom for Sony to manoeuvre into a competitive and consumer-friendly price point for its own headset.
PlayStation VR was originally announced two years ago at GDC 2014 and was known for a while under its working title of Project Morpheus.
