PlayStation VR has over 50 games in the pipeline

According to a thread on Reddit, Sony’s upcoming virtual reality headset, PlayStation VR, has well over 50 titles currently in development for device.

Games confirmed so far to support PS VR include Battlezone, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, The London Heist, Tekken 7, Dreams, and Gran Turismo Sport. It’s worth pointing out that some of the titles are currently in the tech demo stage only, although it is likely they’ll be converted to full games at some point. We’re already excited for the device, so be sure to check out our top 5 most anticipated games.

Sony has been busy plugging its new VR tech at various trade events throughout the year, with PS VR getting the spotlight just last Tuesday during the format holder’s press conference at Paris Games Week. While we know the device will be released in the first quarter of 2016, Sony is still keeping mum in regards to a price point for the gaming headset, although it has suggested it will be positioned close to that of a new console. Indeed, a recent listing on a European retailer seems to back up those comments

PlayStation VR was previously known under the working title Project Morpheus, and was announced at GDC in March 2014. It wasn’t long before industry analyst Michael Pachter chimed in on the subject, describing the device as a ‘really bad move for Sony.’ Initial skepticism pointed out that Sony has backed failed tech in the past with PlayStation Move and 3D gaming, although the company has insisted its foray into virtual reality gaming won’t follow the same path. We went hands-on with PlayStation VR earlier this year, so be sure to find out what we thought in our dedicated feature.
