Hermen Hulst, CEO of Studio Business Group at Sony Interactive Entertainment, has reportedly informed staff this week that Sony’s single-player titles will no longer come to the PC.
That’s according to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who revealed that Hulst has now stated that PlayStation’s single-player efforts will now remain exclusive to its home consoles. Earlier this year, Bloomberg reported that Sony would no longer be releasing all of its major first-party games on PC, with the likes of Ghost of Yotei and Marvel’s Wolverine remaining locked to the PS5.
That’s not to say all of PlayStation’s releases will remain exclusive to PS5. The previous Bloomberg report stated that multiplayer games such as Marathon and Marvel Token Souls would still come to other formats too — and indeed, Marathon launched for PC and Xbox Series X/S in addition to PS5 — but it looks like it’s the end of the line for everything else.
For the past few years Sony has been bringing many of its first-party single-player games to the PC, including Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Ghost of Tsushima, Returnal, and more.
Back in April, ex-Sony indie boss Shuhei Yoshida stated that he doesn’t think that releasing PS5 games on PC from day one is a solid strategy for his former company. And, while many titles have come to PC as mentioned above, they have typically arrived months after their console debut.
