Polyphony Digital would "consider" adding bikes to GT5

Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital, has hinted that the developer may include the option to control motorbikes in Gran Turismo 5 later down the line, possibly in the form of downloadable content.

While the hotly anticipated doesn’t actually feature the ability to drive bikes at present, Yamauchi-san revealed the game has been designed to allow for such a feature providing there is sufficient demand for it.

"The environment we have right now allows us to drive motorcycles, but we need to get Gran Turismo 5 done first," he told the chaps at PSM3. "Once that’s out of the way, if there’s a strong demand for bikes, that’s something we’d consider."

While not explicitly stating that bikes would be featured as DLC, Yamauchi’s comments certainly make it seem highly likely providing the idea stimulates enough interest when eager punters finally get their grubby mitts on the game later this year.

Sony is expected to unveil a new release date for Gran Turismo 5 by the end of the month.
