Prey 2 info landslide

Human Head Studios’ forthcoming Prey 2 will take the form of a single-player exclusive outing that doffs its cap to Mirror’s Edge via the inclusion of various parkour-based elements, publication GameReactor’s confirmed (via NeoGAF).

The magazine reveals that players will assume control of prison guard and sheriff Killian Samuels, who publisher Bethesda previously showcased in Prey 2’s live-action trailer just last week.

Apparently, the sequel will kick off with gamers tackling the first level from Prey 1, albeit you’ll be in the shoes of Samuels instead of original hero Tommy.

The game’s been in the works for the past three years, says Human Head, with Xbox 360 being utilized as the lead platform. The developer ruled out support for PlayStation Move, Kinect and 3D, though confirmed DLC will be offered post-launch.

Speaking as to why it decided not to include multiplayer, the developer commented, “Who would pick the MP mode of Prey 2 ahead of the one in, for example, Halo Reach? We’d rather to a really good SP adventure.”

From the sounds of it, Prey 2 will be an open-world affair, with the magazine saying “Go wherever you want, talk to whoever you want, do the missions you want.”

Gamers will be able to take advantage of their surroundings and sneak up on enemies in the shadows, with Samuels apparently being is “as flexible and limber as Faith of ME, leaping over hights, hanging by arms from pipes, balancing on thin boards and jumping like a cat upwards structures,” with the mag adding Prey 2 has “the moving scheme from Mirror’s Edge, the freedom of Mass Effect and the fire fights of Killzone 2.”

Prey 2 is pencilled in for release in 2012 for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.
