Prey 2 no longer in development at Human Head

Development of Prey 2 is no longer underway at Human Head Studios, publisher Bethesda has announced.

Speaking during an interview with CNET, Bethesda’s head of marketing, Pete Hines, admitted gamers are unlikely to be taken by surprise at news of the game’s cancellation.

"It was [a] game we believed in, but we never felt that it got to where it needed to be – we never saw a path to success if we finished it.

"It wasn’t up to our quality standard and we decided to cancel it. It’s no longer in development. That wasn’t an easy decision, but it’s one that won’t surprise many folks given that we hadn’t been talking about it."

Hines added: "Human Head Studios is no longer working on. It’s a franchise we still believe we can do something with — we just need to see what that something is."

Despite this news, rumors have been circulating for some time that Human Head had abandoned the project, with development shifting to Arkane Studios, the developer responsible for Dishonored.

According to reports, Arkane’s version is supposedly a far cry from what Human Head had been working on. However, nothing official has ever been confirmed regarding Arkane’s involvement in the project.
