PS1 Emulator Found Inside MediEvil PS4 By Popular Modder

Lance Mcdonald, a renowned video game modder, has unearthed a PS1 emulator inside the PS4 remake of MediEvil, although before you get excited, it’s worth pointing out that it’s only equipped to run the PS1 version of the classic action-adventure game.

MediEvil PS4 Hides PS1 Emulator

In case you’re a little puzzled, the MediEvil PS4 remake featured the original game as an unlock able, hence why there’s a PS1 emulator tucked away in the game. McDonald tried out a couple of other PS1 games to see if it’s possible to run them, but alas, they’re a bit of a mess.

Syphon Filter doesn’t even get past the 989 Studios logo. Wild Arms gets to the main menu but no further. Seems like a bust to me. I had to patch some breakpoints out of the emulator to even get Silent Hill as far as you saw above. I’m not really gonna look any closer at it.

Sony neglected to include backwards compatibility in the PS4, although the PS2 and PS3 were capable of playing older games, at least in early models in the case of the latter. PS5 is confirmed to play PS4 games, but nothing else at present,
