PS2 Classic The Warriors now available to download for PS4

Rockstar’s The Warriors is the latest game to join Sony’s on-going PlayStation 2 Classics range, with the 2005 brawler now available to download via the PlayStation Store.

The game will set you back £11.99 and has been given the full PlayStation 4 treatment, complete with 1080p visuals, Remote Play, and Trophies. The Warriors was originally released over ten years ago on the PS2 and Xbox, and requires 3.1GB of storage on your PS4 hard drive.

"New York, 1979. A battle on the streets," reads the official blurb. "The armies of the night number 60,000 strong, and tonight they’re all after The Warriors – a street gang wrongly accused of killing a rival gang leader. The Warriors must make their way from one end of New York to their turf on the other side of the city. All that stands between The Warriors and their survival are 20 miles and thousands of street gang members."

While not reaching the dizzying commercial heights of Grand Theft Auto, Rockstar’s brutal brawler achieved an 84 metacritic and still proved a hit with gamers at the time. So, if you’re feeling nostalgic or fancy something a bit different than GTA or Red Dead, give it a shot.

Rockstar’s latest effort, Grand Theft Auto V, has shipped over 65 million copies worldwide following its release in September 2013. The studio is rumored to be working on a new entry in the Red Dead franchise, with the game’s alleged map leaking earlier in the year.
