U.S. retailer GameStop has begun accepting PS2 trade-ins once again after discontinuing them last summer.
The company issued a statement this week confirming its decision to accept PS2s once again due to high demand.
“The video game console that had captured millions of hearts around the world continues to breathe life,” said GameStop. “The Sony PlayStation 2 is known for its vast library of games and being the top selling video game console of all-time. GameStop knows that a demand for this iconic piece of video game history is still high and will once again buy back PS2 consoles.”
PS2 turns 15 this year, having first launched in Japan in March 2000 before arriving in the U.S. and Europe in October and November, respectively. The system went on to sell a staggering 156 million units globally, making it the best-selling video games console of all time.
