PlayStation Plus Premium will not offer DLC support for PS3 games or any streaming-based titles, Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced.
While PS4 games can also be streamed on the service, Sony is also offering you the chance to download them, so therefore you can still access DLC. Sadly, this isn’t the case for PS3 titles, which will remain streaming only. This was the case with PlayStation Now, although it was hoped that Sony may change things for the new PS Plus.
The PS3 features a notoriously tricky architecture, which is often cited as a reason for why PS4 was not backwards compatible. However, it has been reported that PS3 emulation is entirely possible on the PS5, but it doesn’t appear to be the the focus of Sony’s preservation team.

Sony is relaunching PS Plus in the US and Europe next month as a three-tier subscription service. PS3 gams will be part of the Premium package, which adds PS1, PS2, and PSP titles into the mix.
