PS3 hacker ‘probably’ going to jail after running out of funds

PlayStation 3 hacker Alexander “Graf Chokolo” Egorenkov has admitted that he will “probably” go to jail after running out of funds to battle Sony in court.

Egorenkov has been sued €1 million for attempting to restore Linux on PS3 following Sony’s decision to remove the feature in a Firmware update.

However, the hacker has now confessed that he’s run out of money and anticipates facing a lengthy jail sentence.

“No money left any more,” Egorenkov said in a post on his website. “Going to jail soon probably because I cannot pay court costs. But I’m ready to stand up for everything I said and go to jail for that, too.”

“It’s not important to win, more important is to show them that we are ready to fight, that they cannot scare me off that easily. Yeah, I’m ready to go to jail for my beliefs and my principles,” he continued.

Despite this, Egorenkov pledged to continue his work once he is released – that is, assuming he does end up behind bars in the first place.

“…I will get out eventually and continue my work. My work means very much to me,” he commented.
