The NPD sales for the month of July have arrived, and once again the PlayStation 3 has outsold the Xbox 360, this time by a margin of 20,000 consoles.
The hardware sales numbers for July 2008 are as follows:
DS — 608,000
Wii — 555,000
PS3 — 225,000
PSP — 222,000
Xbox 360 — 205,000
PS2 — 155,000
These sales represent a respectable 42% year-over-year increase for the PlayStation 3. Meanwhile, PS2 sales are slowly slinking away with a decrease of 43% since last year. The PSP has stayed relatively consistent, pushing 8,000 more units than in July 2007.
On the software front, two PS3 titles, NCAA Football 09 and Soul Calibur IV, cracked the top ten (albeit below their 360 counterparts).
