Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age on PlayStation 4 has claimed the number one spot on the U.K. All Format Chart, cementing yet another chart victory for Sony following the success of Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy.
The remastered JRPG, which was originally released on the PlayStation 2 back in 2007, gives Square Enix its first no.1 in the U.K. since last summer’s Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Elsewhere, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare climbs back into the upper reaches of the chart thanks to a discount promotion, while recent chart topper Crash Bandicoot continues to pull in the punters at number three.
Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age implements a number of enhancements for Sony’s flagship console, including remastered high-definition visuals, Trophy support, a new soundtrack, plus of course all the features included in the Japanese release International Zodiac Job System. Looking ahead, Sony still has a number of major PS4-exclusives due to ship this year, including Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in August and Gran Turismo Sport in October. It’s going to be a pretty tough fall for the console maker however, with Microsoft poised to launch the Xbox One X later this year. As such, this has lead analysts to predict that Sony will attempt to counter its rival by dropping the price of both the PS4 and the PS4 Pro in time for the Christmas holidays to maintain its price advantage over the Xbox One.
