PS4 enjoys 70-90% of European console market share, says SCEE boss

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) chief Jim Ryan has said that PlayStation 4 holds anywhere between 70-90 percent of the console market share in European territories.

We have a very significant market leadership,” said Ryan, speaking to VG247 at E3 earlier this month.

Well, we have market leadership in every country in Europe, and have very significant market leadership in continental Europe. Extremely significant. I don’t think market share’s any less than 70%, and frequently greater than 90% in continental Europe.”

He also indicated that Sony is in no rush to slash the price of its flagship games console in Europe:

Particularly in Europe… our momentum is still very considerable,” said the executive. “We’re happy with the price and we’re happy with the value proposition.

Consumers, equally and more importantly, appear to he happy with the price and the value proposition. We’ll leave it where it is for now.”

PS4 launched in November 2013 and has already sold over 22 million units worldwide.
