Sony has announced that it’s working on PS4 firmware 4.0 and is inviting gamers to participate in beta testing process for the new update.
Starting today, the PS4 firmware 4.0 beta test is now open for registration and will remain so until early August. Note you’ll have to be 18-years-old or over to register for the beta. As you may recall, Sony has previously run betas for the PS4’s 3.00 and 3.50 updates.
If you’re successfully entered into the beta process, you’ll receive an email on how to download the beta client for the new update. To sign up, you’ll need a PS4 with Internet connection and access to a Master Account.
It’s also worth signing up to the PlayStation Forums, which will allow you to discuss the beta process with participating testers in a dedicated forum. Note that during the beta you will be able to switch your PS4 back to update 3.55 at any time.
Sony has promised that it will reveal information on the new update in early August, so stay tuned to PSU for further details.
