PS4 has sold 20.2 million units worldwide

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has today announced that PlayStation 4 has sold a staggering 20.2 million units worldwide, as of March 1.

Continuing its mark as the fastest-selling PlayStation console in history, the PS4 has sailed past the 20 million barrier in a little over a year – a feat that has cemented Sony’s latest console at the peak of video game console sales this generation.

President and Global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Andrew House had this to say in a statement  about the unprecedented milestone:

”We are so grateful for the enormous support from PlayStation® fans worldwide, and we are truly humbled that gamers around the globe have continued to select PS4 as the best place to play.”

He added: "We remain steadfast in our commitment to deliver unique and interactive entertainment experiences powered by the network and the PS4 system’s deep social capabilities.”

Sony’s PS4 is currently available for purchase  in 123 countries and is showing no signs of letting up, what with the release of the likes of From Software’s Bloodborne and Visceral Games’ Battlefield Hardline imminent.
