Sony Interactive Entertainment has released PS4 system software update 13.50 for users to download this week, joining recent firmware updates for both PS3 and PS5.
Sony’s official patch notes for the latest PS4 firmware update read as follows:
- We’ve improved the messages and usability on some screens.
Yep, that’s your lot. It shouldn’t be a shocker though, as the PS4 was released in 2013 and Sony is fully focussed on the PS5 at this point, as it turns six-years-old this November.
The PS4 was released in November 2013 in the US and Europe, with the Japanese release arriving in early 2014. While the console didn’t reach the commercial heights of the PS2, it comfortably outsold the PS3, which was something of a difficult generation for Sony due to the losses sustained during the system’s launch period. The PS4 received a mid-cycle refresh in the form of the PS4 Pro, and a number of its games have been remastered for the PS5 with extra bells and whistles (The Last of Us, The Last of Us Part 2, Days Gone among the highlights).
