PS4 update v3.00

Sharing video clips to Twitter

The new update makes sharing video clips on Twitter via your PS4 much easier. You can achieve this by hitting the new icon on the Upload Video Clip, which is tucked in between Facebook and YouTube options. The maximum length you can upload is approximately 10 seconds, although you will be given the ability to reduce larger clips to make them fit. Simply double tap the Share button to start recording a video, and hit it again to stop.

PlayStation Plus

PlayStation Plus now has its own dedicated area for members to access. Simply hit the large ‘Plus’ icon on PS4’s home screen, located in the top-right hand corner. This area will let gamers effortlessly manage their account, view monthly free games available, PS Plus deals, and all titles you’ve redeemed so far.

YouTube Live

The Broadcast Gameplay Screen now houses a new YouTube icon once you press the Share button. This allows you to stream live directly from your PS4, which will be viewable across YouTube.

PNG Screenshots

Taking screenshots has now been improved by offering an option for high quality with PNG images. You can change the format by pressing Share > Share Settings > Screenshot Settings > Image Format.

Events

Update 3.0 introduces a brand new hub for Events, which you can access via the home screen. Here, you can see a list of events taking place in your most-played games on PS4, plus any official broadcasts that are planned. If anything tickles your fancy, you can register for it here.

Improvements to Messages and Favorite Groups

The message function has now been improved, making it easier to access the groups of people who you frequently chat to or play games with. For example, you might want to create a group for your fireteam in Destiny, which will display their status, what games they’re playing, plus the option to message them or chat in a party.

Communities

Thanks to update 3.0, PS4 owners will also have the ability to create communities based on mutual interests, including games, genres, and more. This area will include a message board with general discussion, shared screenshots, and the option to join parties/games with your friends.

Stickers

Finally, the update introduces a new Sticker option located in the PS4’s Messages application. From day-one, you will have access to stickers based on Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Knack, LittleBigPlanet 3, Resogun, and more. Don’t fancy typing a message? Then just send a sticker.
