PS4 Update 4.50 release date nears, and here’s 5 reasons you should be excited

ps4 update 4.5

The PS4 update 4.50 release date is incoming, though an official launch date from Sony has still to be confirmed. This is one of the most significant firmware updates since the PS4 launched back in 2013 and here’s five reasons you should be excited.

Upgrade your HDD
One of the biggest features of the new patch is the ability to upgrade your PS4 with an external HDD. In the past, we’ve had to use internal HDD solutions to increase storage, but in update 4.5 you can now choose the best USB 3.0 external HDD to upgrade your PS4. This means you can store more games, more apps and more media without every having to worry about running out of space and having to delete items.

Custom PS4 themes
Being able to transform your wallpaper with your own PS4 themes means you no longer have to rely on downloading the ones from the PlayStation Store. You can create your own selecting screenshots from in-game and then tweak them in ShareFactory’s Photo Mode with a variety of different options, including drop-shadows and the ability to dim areas of your screenshot. Even better, you can download images from the PS4’s web browser! So, you can put anything you like as your new theme.

New menu options
Press the PS Button on your DualShock 4 and you’ll immediately be able to access the Quick Menu which has been transformed in PS4 update 4.50. Before, the Quick Menu option would fill up too much of your screen and cut affect your gameplay, but now it takes up much less space so you can keep on gaming. You’ll be able to invite friends quickly and access party features swiftly and intuitively.

Boost Mode
This new feature is for PS4 Pro owners only. PS4 Pro Boost mode transforms your games by helping to improve their resolution and frame-rate. Many games have already been tested with PS4 Pro Boost Mode, and the difference with Boost Mode off compared to on is extremely noticeable in many games that haven’t already received a specific PS4 Pro update.

3D Blu-Ray PSVR support
Sony’s PSVR headset will be getting 3D Blu-Ray support in the latest firmware upgrade. That means you don’t need a 3D TV to watch 3D movies and videos. You’ll be able to watch them in stereoscopic 3D directly through the virtual reality headset, including PlayStation VR porn.

PS4 update 4.50 is currently in its beta phase with the PlayStation community testing it out before launch. We’re expected the update to release very soon. Stay tuned.
