In the UK, retailers have slashed the price of the PlayStation 4 to £289.99, offering a £40 saving on its previously listed price of £330.
The price cut appears to have been backed by Sony who is likely responding to an Xbox One price cut a couple of weeks ago which knocked £30 off the price of Microsoft’s console.
Though retailers are free to set their own prices for consoles, Sony appears to have instigated the cut and is promoting it via its Twitter account (note: Sony lists the price incorrectly in the promo shot at £299.99).

Tesco, Argos and Amazon are listing the PS4 for the price of £289.99, while GAME has the best offer at £289.99 as it comes with a copy of Minecraft.
The current deal isn’t live for too long, with all retailers stating that this special price is only available until April 28, 2015.
