Cowen & Co. is reporting that pre-orders for PlayStation 4-exclusive shooter Killzone: Shadow Fall are eclipsing those of fellow next-generation titles Dead Rising 3 and Forza 5 for Xbox One.
The findings come from the Cowen Video Game Odometer, which is based on an analysis of NPD data sales and Amazon best-seller data from previous years. The firm claims the results are 96-97 per cent accurate, with data having been monitored since E3 and is updated frequently.
In terms of actual figures, titles are measured out of 100, with Shadow Fall topping the list with 30.3, its nearest competitor being Forza 5 at 18.8. Dead Rising 3 follows with 15 and then Ryse at 13.2.
On the flip side, fellow PS4–exclusive titles Knack and DriveClub didn’t fare as well as Guerrilla Games’ stunning-looking shooter, bagging just 7.7 and 3.0, respectively.
Cowen notes that we are “very early in the pre-order cycle for most of the games we are tracking.”
Recent reports have suggested that PS4 and Xbox One hardware are neck-and-neck on Amazon in terms of pre-orders, though it remains to be seen how much each system will gather pace in the line-up to launch this holiday season.
Are you surprised to see Killzone: Shadow Fall as PS4’s hottest pre-order? Do you think Knack and DriveClub will gather pace or get lost amidst the line-up of big-name sequels this holiday season? Sound off in the comments section below.
