PS5 Dev Kit Obtained By YouTuber For In-Depth Look At Sony’s Dev Hardware

YouTube account Macho Nacho Productions obtained a PS5 development kit, offering the first proper in-depth look at the innards of the hardware.

Presenter Tito Perez didn’t go into detail on how they obtained the PS5 dev kit, and it wasn’t activated, meaning he was only able to showcase a menu system without actually booting anything up.

Despite this, the video posted does go into a lot of detail about the design of the development kit, which differs greatly from the retail version of the PS5 and adds a number of extra ports and buttons. Check it out below.

The PS5 dev kit has largely been kept out of the public eye, with Sony keeping details of it close to its chest. We’ve seen a couple of images and other details, and the kits briefly appeared on eBay, but the above video is the best look at the tech we’ve had to date.

Sony launched the PS5 in November 2020 in the UK, US and other major regions, and has shipped over 21.7 million units worldwide.
