The PS5 DualSense controller is the next evolution in the long-running DualShock series, which was first released back in 1998 for the PSOne. Sony continued to iterate on the pad with the DualShock 2, DualShock 3, and finally, the DualShock 4.
For its latest controller, Sony is incorporating a bunch of extra features, including haptic feedback and a new Create button, which functions similar to the DS4’s Share button but with added features.
The PS5 is scheduled for release in holiday 2020 alongside the Microsoft Xbox Series X. Despite the disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic, it’s not expected the console will be delayed. Sony last week reiterated that the PS5 is still on track for release this year.
A new date for the PS5 games reveal is expected to be confirmed soon.
