Circana’s Mat Piscatella has dropped off a couple of interesting states about the PS5 following Sony’s latest financial report, stating that 2023 was likely the peak year for Sony’s latest home console.
Not only that, but for North America in each platform’s 41st month on the market, the PS5 is tracking 7% ahead of the PS4, 66% ahead of the PS3, and 30% ahead of PS1. However, Sony’s flagship console is trailing PS2 by 14% in the same time frame, which isn’t surprising considering just how successful that console was.

Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed during its financial call that the PS5 has shipped 59.3 million units worldwide since its launch in November 2020, while PSN monthly active users were up on the same period last year.
The format holder is hotly tipped to host a new PlayStation Showcase this month, where it is expected to unveil the next slew of major PS5 and PSVR 2 games for the remainder of the year and beyond.
