Sony has announced during his latest financial results that the PS5 has shipped 59.3 million units worldwide.
The format holder moved 4.5 million PS5s during the three-month period ended March 31, 2024, marking a drop of 1.8 million units from the same period during the previous fiscal year. However, for the entire FY the PS5 moved 20.8 million units, which is an increase of 1.7 million over the previous year.

Meanwhile, software sales for the PS5 & PS4 during the same three month period tootled 72.6 million units, which is an increase of 4.6 million year-on-year.
The PS5 was released in November 2020 during the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, with initial stock selling out fast. This lead to major stock shortages that would last nearly two years, with scalpers quickly taking advantage of the situation and reselling the console for exorbitant prices.
