Paweł Sasko, Associate Game Director on Cyberpunk 2, has revealed that a large portion of the game’s quest team are comprised of ex-modders snapped up by CD Projekt RED.
“The modding community is really keeping the game alive,” said Sasko, talking on a recent CDPR REDstreams. “I’m very often looking at what our modders are doing, what they’re building. It’s very exciting. There’s so much creativity. We as a studio always try to support our modding community as much as we can.”
A lot of modders, they were players who actually first played and actually got experience with customizing the game with the mods. For me, this is a foot-in-the-door technique, and a gateway into game dev. You can see, and you can learn how things are made, how things can be built. We actually hired so many modders. I would say, at this point, half of the quest team is all former modders.
CDPR announced back in May 2025 that the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel had entered pre-production, so don’t expect to see the game anytime soon. A job listing for the game posted earlier that year revealed that the development team is aiming to create the ‘most realistic crowds ever seen in a video game.’
