PS5 Pro Reveal Due ‘Very Soon’ Claims Reliable Leaker, Console Design Sketch Revealed

Sony is set to announce the long-rumoured PS5 Pro ‘very soon’ according to reliable tipster billbil-kun, with the console allegedly set for reveal in the first half of September.

The Dealabs user also claims to have access to the packaging designed for the PS5 Pro — and just to clarify, they claim the system will indeed be called PS5 Pro and not something else — but could only provide a sketch as they cannot share copyrighted images.

As you can see from the image below, the PS5 Pro looks very similar to the Slim version of the standard version, and boasts three distinct strikes across the middle of the system. While a little thicker than the PS5 Slim, billbil-kun’s report implies that it may still be compatible with existing PS5 Slim faceplates.

What isn’t known yet is whether there will be two versions of the PS5 Pro to give users the choice of buying the console with or without a disc drive. The image billbil-kun received didn’t feature a disc drive, and they speculate that Sony may want to keep costs down by shipping it as a digital-only device.

The PS5 Pro is reportedly set to launch in late 2024, and yesterday it was stated that the new system may ship with 2 TB of storage and will run quietly. In addition, folk were apparently openly discussing the PS5 Pro during GamesCom 2024, pretty much cementing it as the worst-kept secret of the year.
