According to the latest GfK figures, the PS5 was the best-selling console in the UK for December 2023, despite sales of Sony’s flagship machine falling 19% over the previous month.
The PS5 enjoyed a hugely successful period in November 2023 thanks to the arrival of Black Friday deals, which saw the console net its biggest week since the system launch in November 2020. Even with sales down last month, PS5 still managed to outsell the Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X/S during the holiday season.

Meanwhile, in terms of accessories Sony also saw strong sales with the DualSense White and Midnight Black among the best-selling peripherals during December 2023. Even the PS4’s DualShock 4 managed to reach no.7 thanks to Sony’s last-generation console also enjoying boosted sales during the same period.

The PS5 was plagued by supply issues following its launch in late 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, and it wasn’t until around this time last year that these issues were finally resolved. As such, PS5 saw a huge sales spike throughout 2023, and the console has now sold over 50 million units globally.
