Despite launching in mid-November 2020, the PS5 was the second best-selling home console in the UK last year, according to GSD market data analysed by GI.biz. The next-generation console narrowly managed to beat the PS4, which is in third place.
Nintendo Switch managed to take the crown in the UK as the best-selling console of 2020, although the fact PS5 wasn’t even available for two full months in the year and still managed second place is pretty impressive.

The PS5 was released in the UK on November 19, one week after its US release. Sony has reportedly sold 4.19 million PS5s worldwide within its first six weeks on sale, giving it quite a solid sales advantage over the Xbox Series X/S.
The format holder is targeting 7.6 PS5 sales by the end of March 2021, so we’ll have to wait and see what the official numbers say once the quarter wraps up.
