PSN will be known as Sony Entertainment Network from tomorrow

Sony has announced that its PlayStation Network brand will be renamed as Sony Entertainment Network as part of a new Firmware update on February 7.

Originally thought to apply to PSN account holders only, the re-branding will in fact encompass the entire PSN platform as a whole.

Said the company: "After you update the system software on your PS3 or PS Vita, you will notice that PlayStation Network accounts have been renamed Sony Entertainment Network accounts. This change will not affect the naming of PlayStation Network accounts when viewed on a PSP system.”

"This account change is a change in name only. You do not have to do anything and your username and password will not change.”

"This transition is based on Sony’s goal to enhance its unique digital entertainment offering. As a series of these activities Sony started last September, PlayStation Network will be aligned with Sony Entertainment Network. This helps us get closer to our goal of establishing a global comprehensive network platform of services across games, movies, music and more, all accessible from one convenient account."

In addition, the hardware manufacturer also noted that SEN accounts will enable owners to utilize various non-gaming services (Music Unlimited, PlayStation Store’s Video Store and PlayMemories Online etc) across multiple network-connected devices.
