PSU’s E3 2010 Predictions

E3 is synonymous with many things. Megatons, copious amounts of waiting time, absurd deadlines, giant enemy crabs (ok, that was a one off, but still), and the chance to go hands-on with the year’s hottest games and hardware. It comes once a year, and we bloody love it.

Naturally, we all have an idea of what we’d like to see announced at the event, hence why some of the staff at PSU have all chipped in and cobbled together a list of our predictions  – some more optimistic than others – for this year’s mega event in Los Angeles.

Of course, most of us have a fairly good idea of what to expect, though that’s the great thing about E3 – just when you think you’ve seen it all, a couple of surprises always manage to sneak in when you least expect it. So, what can we expect to shock our socks off this year? Resistance 3? God of War III DLC? Final Fantasy VII remake? PSP2?

We can’t answer that for sure, but check out our predictions/wish lists below.

-Sadly this will be a lite-version of E3. We already know about Move, Killzone 3, and we’ve heard enough rumors about an enhanced subscription-based PSN and PSP2 to have a good idea of what to expect.
– The PlayStation Move will get an earlier release date than originally announced, and we’ll see more demos of both casual and non-casual games.
– The Last Guardian will be playable, and will it will feature Move support. It will be released in time for the holidays.
– Part of Sony’s new subscription-based PSN service will include an unannounced exclusive MMO.
– Gran Turismo 5 will get an official release date, only to be delayed sometime in the not-so-distant future.
– Rockstar will show off The Agent and it will get a holiday release schedule.
– Bungie and Insomniac Games will showcase their multiplatform releases.
– Jack Tretton will show why the PlayStation brand is the best through a two minute video that shows off Blu-ray movies, PS3/PSP games, Move, and 3D gaming. Somewhere in that mix of videos will be an all new title in the “Play, Create, Share” catalog.
– PSP will get a price drop, while the PSP2 will be revealed.

Rockstar will reveal Agent exclusively for the PlayStation 3, demoing the first gameplay footage and providing a general release date.

– Sony reveals new titles such as Resistance 3, InFamous 2, and Starhawk and provides new footage and possibly playable demos for recently announced games Killzone 3, LittleBigPlanet 2, and SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs.

– Sony makes a big deal about 3D. With the entertainment industry shifting towards a new 3d era, Sony showcases new and old games running on their new Sony Bravia 3D enabled TV’s. Titles that will mostly likely make a 3D appearance include; Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 3, SuperStardust HD, and Motorstorm Pacific Rift.

– PS Move will broaden it’s horizon with the announcements of new games utilizing it’s technology. Not only will Sony reveal new games using PS Move, but 3rd party developers will use E3 to express their interest in using it.

– Sony reveals premium PSN service. The premium PSN service will allow for MMO’s to finally reach the PS3. Such titles as Free Realms, The Agency, DC Universe Online, and Final Fantasy XIV will be revealed to use this service.

My surprise predictions:

– Bungie reveals their first multiplatform title with Activision. Finally a none Halo game and something PlayStation gamers can enjoy.

– Sony’s biggest E3 reveal is the return and new look of The Getaway and Eight Days.
