PSU’s Holiday Buyers Guide: Blu-ray

Continuing the Holiday Buyers Guide, PSU.com takes a look at some of the best Blu-ray titles of the year. When compiling our list we looked at the following: video quality, sound quality, HD features, and the movie itself. So if you own a PlayStation 3 or a stand-alone Blu-ray player, here are some titles you may want to look at for either yourself or friends/family.

5. Spider-man Trilogy Set
Price: $62.95

General:

Available now in stores, the Spider-Man Blu-ray Trilogy set includes all three Spider-Man titles, as well as the bonus content from the single release of Spider-Man 3 Blu-ray. Displayed in 1080p (MPEG-4), and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround sound, this is the best way to enjoy the Spider-Man series.

4. Disney’s Ratatouille and Cars

General:

Each sold separately; both are true treasures and are equal when it comes to our list. If you are looking to get a movie for your kids, either of these will do. Created by Pixar, both films are renowned for their visual quality on Blu-ray displaying in 1080p (MPEG-4) resolution. Cars includes BD-Java features such as picture in picture play and interactive games, such as "Car Finder." Ratatouille includes features such as high def versions of Pixar short films like "Lifted" and "Your Friend the Rat."

3. Planet Earth Complete Series:
Price: $66.95

Five years, seven continents, and a USD 25 million budget…Planet Earth is one of the most innovative and inspiring nature documentaries ever created. Even then, this collection of epic films, based off the Disney theme ride of the same name is worth every cent. Each film is a 2-disc set with copious amounts of features and bonus material that will have you occupied hours after the movies are over. All three movies rank high in both video quality (1080p, MPEG-4) and sound (PCM 5.1 Surround) making them one of the best collections to own.
