Sony has reduced its initial sales projections for PSVR 2 after early preorders for the next-generation headset have been sluggish.
The format holder has now halved its forecast for the PSVR 2 from two million to one million units, with plans to ship around 1.5 million units between April 2023 and March 2024.
That’s obviously not great for Sony as it approaches PSVR 2’s launch, although you have to remember that the headset costs $549.99/£529.99, which is more than the system you need to play it on. As such, it’s not surprising people are a bit hesitant to put down their cash.
The PSVR 2 is scheduled for release on February 22, 2023 and will launch with more than 30 different games, including ports of existing PSVR games as well as all-new efforts such as Horizon Call of the Mountain.
