Quantum Error Dev Says The Game Was ‘Made To Be Played With PS5’s Extremely Fast SSD,’ Says Xbox Series X SSD Is ‘Quite A Bit Slower’

TeamKill Media has revealed on Twitter that its upcoming cosmic shooter Quantum Error was designed to be played with the PS5’s ‘extremely fast’ SSD.

Interestingly, the team revealed that while it’s currently working to optimise the game for the Xbox Series X, it noted that the SSD powering Microsoft’s console is ‘quite a bit slower’ than Sony’s machine.

We have started looking into optimizing the game for Xbox, but it is definitely going to take a bit of time unfortunately; QE has been made to be played with the PS5’s extremely fast SSD, the Xbox SSD is quite a bit slower and so we are going to have to change things quite a bit to make up for that difference in speed.

When asked why ‘every other developer can do it just fine,’ the studio added:

We did not develop this game for PS4 or Xbox Series X/S, QE was designed to use the PS5 and it’s specific tech, if we had started development by holding the game back to account for all platforms it would work fine, but that would also mean a lesser quality game and sacrificing the awesome things we can do if we put all our focus into the PS5.

Earlier this week TeamKill Media revealed on Twitter that development of Quantum Error is ‘pretty much done,’ although a release date continues to remain elusive.
