The Red Dead Redemption 2 release date has been potentially leaked by the Polish arm of Media Markt, a popular chain of electronic stores.
According to a list on the company’s official website (via Reddit), the hotly anticipated Wild West action-adventure sequel will be released for PS4 on October 3, 2017. While you could argue this is merely a placeholder, it is worth noting that the store received the date from the distributor of the game in Poland.
Responding to an email about the Red Dead Redemption 2 listing, the company replied, "I would like to inform you that our marketing department was informed by distributor of the game that its airing date is 3th of october 2017.”
Developer Rockstar has yet to announce any details on the game’s release date following its announcement late last year, aside from confirming the title will ship on PS4 and Xbox One in fall 2017. Red Dead Redemption 2 looks set to feature an extensive cast of characters, and Rockstar has also confirmed it will feature a dedicated online component in a similar vein to what the studio achieved with Grand Theft Auto Online, the multiplayer companion to the hugely successful Grand Theft Auto V.
Of course, this isn’t the first time that a possible Red Dead Redemption 2 release date has leaked. Earlier this month, it was suggested the game would show up in September 2017, although again, treat this with a pinch of salt.
The original Red Dead Redemption was released for PS3 and Xbox 360 back in May 2010, and has sold over 14 million copies worldwide to date. The game is a spiritual successor to 2004’s Red Dead Revolver, which is now available to download via the PlayStation Store. In addition, RDR is featured as one of the many titles on PlayStation Now, Sony’s cloud-based streaming service.
