Gfk-ChartTrack has revealed that Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption has clocked up the 11th biggest videogame launch in UK history.
As reported earlier today, the Wild West romp stomped all over the competition in the region’s All Format Charts, hitting the top spot and becoming the biggest launch of the year in the process.
"It’s smaller than GTA IV – that was somewhere between three to four times bigger – but it’s certainly the biggest release of the year so far," Gfk’s Dorian Bloch told CVG. "It’s up there with the biggest triple-A titles of all time – not bad, considering almost all of those are release in the fourth quarter of the year, which is peak season."
As it stands, Modern Warfare 2 currently holds the record for the UK’s biggest videogame launch of all time, followed closely by Grand Theft Auto IV. Check out the full list below.
