Rockstar Games’ critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption could be getting remastered for modern platforms, with the game recently rated by the ESRB for PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S.
Red Dead Redemption is technically playable on the PS5, but it’s not a fully optimised version; instead, you can play the PS4 edition via backwards compatibility. The game is also available on the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One, but it looks like Rockstar is bringing it to Nintendo and Microsoft’s most recent platforms, too.
A description from the ESRB listing can be seen below, and mentions a zombie plague, which suggests Undead Nightmare is part of the package.

Red Dead Redemption is rated M for Mature 17+ by the ESRB with Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, and Use of Drugs. This is an open-world action-adventure game in which players assume the role of a reformed criminal capturing the remnants of an outlaw gang and combatting a zombie plague.
Back in May, John Marston voice actor Rob Wiethoff mentioned some “exciting news” that he’s aware of but unable to share at the time, which was likely referring to the original Red Dead Redemption — although rumours of a Red Dead Redemption 2 remaster continue to do the rounds all the same.
Red Dead Redemption was originally released for PS3 and Xbox 360 in May 2010.
