Resident Evil 7 release date set for early 2017

Resident Evil 7 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on January 24, 2017. The game takes place on a remote plantation mansion in the southern United States, and sees players controlling a new protagonist by the name of Ethan as he searches for his missing wife.

Unlike previous mainline entries in the long-running franchise, Resi 7 takes place from a first-person perspective for the entirety of the game, and is also compatible with PlayStation VR from start to finish. The Resident Evil 7 demo is currently available to download via the PlayStation Store, and we’ve also been lucky enough to try it in PSVR mode

Resident Evil celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, having originally launched on the PlayStation back in March 1996. Capcom recently ported Resident Evil 4, 5 and 6 to the PS4 and Xbox One and is currently working on a full-fledged remake of 1998’s seminal Resident Evil 2.
