Resident Evil 7 takes 15 hours to complete, focuses more on horror

Capcom has given a clear indication of how long players can expect to put into the upcoming Resident Evil 7: biohazard during their first playthrough.

Speaking with GamingBolt, Resident Evil 7 Producer Masachika Kawata also delved a little into what players can expect from the hotly anticipated survival horror game, confirming the team has seemingly moved away from the more action-oriented antics of the previous few games. Pleasingly, it seems that Resi 7 isn’t skipping on content either, offering around 15 hours of gameplay depending on your skill level.

We are looking around 15 hours of gameplay but that obviously depends on how the player plays,” said Kawata-san.

We do stress that this title definitely emphasizes more on the horror side. But at the end of the day it is still entertainment, so we try to include as many unique elements as possible that people will enjoy. This time around the main character interacts quite heavily with the Baker family. Each member of the Baker family is quite unique, and they do have their own very distinct personalities. And that really comes through in the dialogue as well, so we feel that that would be a great way – an additional way to enjoy the game just to see how the player and family members interact.”

How about familiar faces though? Can we expect past Resident Evil characters to show their face? “I don’t know,” replied Kawata-san.

Resident Evil 7 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on January 24, 2017. The game takes place four years after Resident Evil 6, and sees newcomer Ethan Winters exploring the mysterious Baker plantation in Dulvey, Louisiana, as he searches for his missing wife, Mia. However, along the way, he’s pursued relentlessly by the apparently immortal Bakers, and has to solve a number of head-scratching riddles in classic Resi style.
