Resident Evil 9 Is Reportedly Set On An Island In Southeast Asia

Capcom’s as-yet unannounced Resident Evil 9 will take place on an island in the Southeast Asia sea, according to insider Dusk Golem.

The leaker, who has a long-standing record on outing all things Resident Evil, added that the fictional location is inspired by Singapore. That’s about all he had to say on the matter, but it’s the first major info we’ve had on the setting of the game.

Previously, Dusk Golem claimed that Resident Evil 9 had been delayed internally and that another entry in the series would likely be released in its place. However, he quickly backtracked on that and said the game isn’t likely delayed, but rather is probably going to be announced soon and is targeting an early 2025 release.

Resident Evil 9 is also said to feature the series’ largest budget to date and has been in development since 2018.
