Resident Evil 7: Biohazard director Koshi Nakanishi has revealed during the Capcom Next digital showcase overnight that he will direct Resident Evil 9, which is excluding any remakes is expected to be the next major release in the franchise.
It was difficult to figure out what to do after Resident Evil 7. But I found it, and to be honest it feels substantial. I can’t share any details yet, but I hope you’re excited for the day I can.
Resident Evil 9 hasn’t been officially revealed by Capcom yet, but noted insider Dusk Golem has been teasing the game for the past few years. While initially it was believed that the game would be revealed this summer and ship in early 2025, Dusk Golem now believes Resident Evil 9 will launch in late 2025/early 2026.

Beyond RE9, Capcom is also reportedly working on remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil CODE Veronica. However, at this point there’s no confirmation on when any of these games will be released, although with the 30th anniversary coming in 2026, we’ll hopefully have at least one new title on shelves by that point.
