Resident Evil HD Remaster will be released in North America and Europe beginning January 20, 2015, Capcom announced today.
The survival horror title will be available digitally for $19.99/£15.99 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
Resident Evil HD Remaster is an enhanced port of the GameCube Resident Evil Remake, which was originally announced under an exclusivity deal with Nintendo back in 2002. The game features high-definition visuals, widescreen support, improved sound effects, and a new control scheme.
PS4 gamers will be able to enjoy 1080p visuals while the PS3 release will run at 720p. Both versions will be clocked at 30fps, however.
Resident Evil takes place in July 1998, where a series of grisly murders in Raccoon forest prompts the S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team to be called into action to investigate. After making an emergency landing, the Alpha Team—including main characters Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine—touch down in the forest to search for the missing Bravos, only to discover an old mansion infested with zombies and other horrific creatures.
The original game was released in 1996 for the PlayStation and was ported to Sega Saturn and PC the following year. A Director’s Cut was also released that included a playable demo of the then-upcoming Resident Evil 2, alternate camera angles, and other extra content.
