Capcom has announced on its official website that the upcoming high-definition revamp of Resident Evil will run at 30fps for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
In addition, the Japanese giant revealed that the survival horror title will feature 1080p visuals for next-generation consoles, while the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions will be clocked at 720p.
Resident Evil HD Remaster is based on the 2002 GameCube remake of Capcom’s seminal zombie romp, which was originally released on PlayStation in 1996. In addition to enhanced visuals, it also adds a new control scheme, improved sound effects, and widescreen support.
Set in the summer of 1998, Resident Evil sees S.T.A.R.S. operatives Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine investigating a mysterious mansion in Raccoon Forest, which is at the epicentre of a series of cannibalistic homicides.
They soon discover, however, that the crumbling estate is infested with zombies and other nightmarish creatures, and must fight to survive while solving fiendish puzzles and uncovering the mansion’s dark secrets.
The game will be released in early 2015 as a digital download. Check out a screenshot comparison article here to see how it improves upon the original version.
